Silver IRA reviews usually recycle a gold ranking. This one judges the six strongest silver sellers among the ten companies we track on four silver questions: how much plain bullion they stock, what they disclose about price, how low the account minimum sits, and where the metal is stored. Every product list, fee and minimum below was read on the company's own site on 5 October 2026, and where a company publishes nothing, we say so.

Birch Gold Group is the best silver IRA company we can document in 2026: the broadest IRA silver list, bars included, a representative fee schedule printed on its silver IRA page, and a $5,000 door. American Hartford Gold follows for its 10 oz and 100 oz bars at a $10,000 minimum, and Noble Gold Investments for the only complete flat fee table among the six. No company here publishes its silver spread, so the ranking tells you where to start, not what you will pay.
Products, fees, minimums and promotions verified Oct 2026 on company sites. Confirm current pricing before funding.
Our overall 2026 rankings weigh fees, custody, service and complaint history, and place Birch Gold Group first at 9.8, Augusta Precious Metals second at 9.6, Goldco third at 9.4 and American Hartford Gold fourth at 9.2. Those scores stand. This page reorders the same companies on four questions that only matter once the metal is silver, which is why two firms move.
Augusta drops from second overall to fourth here because a $50,000 minimum shuts out most silver-only savers and its site blocked our October check. American Hartford Gold rises because its catalogue carries the bar sizes that keep silver premiums down. The rules every product must meet, .999 fineness and trustee custody, sit on our silver IRA rules page.

Read on each company's own site on 5 October 2026: Birch silver list and silver IRA page; American Hartford Gold catalogue and IRA FAQ; Noble Gold silver IRA page; Goldco silver coins and silver IRA page; American Bullion FAQ. Augusta's site blocked retrieval on 5 October 2026, so its entries rest on its own pages as archived in May 2026.
Birch lists more IRA-eligible silver than anyone else we track, and the mix is the right one: Eagles and Maples for liquidity, a 2 oz Twin Maple, Britannias, and bars and coin-bars from Valcambi and the St Helena mint that sit closer to melt value than any proof coin. Its silver IRA page prints the representative running cost, $100 a year for storage and insurance and $125 for management after a $50 setup and a $30 wire (its gold IRA and precious metals IRA pages list $110 for storage, so expect $225 to $235 a year), and its FAQ says first-year fees are covered on accounts over $50,000. The FAQ puts the minimum at $5,000, which is the lowest door among the six. On price, Birch says it sources from wholesalers in real time and gives a locked-in quote before you confirm, which is a process rather than a number, so ask for the premium per product anyway. Five named depositories round it out. Read our Birch Gold Group review or visit Birch Gold Group.
The catalogue is what earns second place. Alongside Eagles, Maples and Philharmonics it lists rounds and 10 oz and 100 oz bars, the formats where the fabrication cost per ounce is lowest, which is the single biggest lever on a silver order. The IRA FAQ names Brink's and Delaware as its preferred vaults and warns readers off home storage schemes in plain terms. Two cautions. No fee schedule is published, and the homepage headline of up to $15,000 in free silver on qualifying purchases comes without published terms, so ask what qualifies and what the same dollars buy in bars. The catalogue also carries premium and pre-1964 items without an IRA flag, which do not belong in the account. Minimum $10,000. Read the American Hartford Gold review or visit American Hartford Gold.
Noble is the only firm of the six that prints a complete IRA schedule on its silver page: $20,000 minimum, $50 setup, $30 wire, $75 in-kind distribution, $250 closure, and $125 maintenance plus $160 storage a year, flat. Its support FAQ quotes a different version, $80 setup and $275 a year ($125 custodial, $150 segregated storage), so ask which applies. That is still a genuinely useful disclosure for a metal where the account fees are the only cost you can see in advance. Its silver list is shorter, Eagles, 5 oz America the Beautiful coins, Philharmonics and bars, and the page has two sloppy lines worth knowing: it calls Noble a custodian, which it is not, and its FAQ says you may store silver at home or in Texas. For IRA silver only the depository answer is lawful, as our home storage review explains. Read the Noble Gold review or visit Noble Gold Investments.
Augusta ranks second on our gold list and fourth here for one reason: a $50,000 minimum that applies to cash and IRA orders alike. Its silver offering, as its own pages stood in May 2026, covers Eagles, Maples, Philharmonics, Britannias, rounds and 1, 10 and 100 oz bars, with Equity Trust as custodian and fully allocated storage at Delaware Depository. It sells gold and silver only. Its site blocked our retrieval in October 2026, so confirm every term on this line before you rely on it. Read the Augusta review or visit Augusta Precious Metals.
Goldco's silver page and coin catalogue are extensive, and that is part of the problem: beyond Eagles, Maples and Britannias, the list is dominated by themed issues from Perth, the New Zealand Mint and Bulmint, each flagged IRA eligible or not, and no bars appear on the pages we read. The headline offer is up to 5% back in free silver on $50,000 to $99,999 and 10% from $100,000, but only on Goldco premium coins and not combinable with other offers. It advertises a highest buyback guarantee without a figure. Minimum $25,000 for an IRA. Our overall third-ranked firm, and fifth on silver because the promotion steers you away from the cheapest silver. Read the Goldco review or visit Goldco.
American Bullion works exclusively with STRATA Trust, ships to Delaware Depository and lists sensible IRA silver: Eagles, Maples, Philharmonics and PAMP and Johnson Matthey bars. It recommends $10,000 as a minimum rollover. The weak spot is its fee disclosure: its FAQ quotes STRATA's metals plan at a $25 setup and $160 a year, while STRATA's own fee page now shows $150 a year with a $50 setup waived for online applications, so rely on the custodian's page rather than the dealer's. Read the American Bullion review or visit American Bullion.
Orion Metal Exchange, Lear Capital, Patriot Gold Group and Advantage Gold also sell IRA silver. None beat the six here: Orion and Advantage publish no minimum or fees, Lear's fee waivers apply to limited mintage coins only, and Patriot's silver leans towards proof and exclusive issues.
On a silver order the account fees are the small cost. The premium over melt value is paid once, at purchase, and on small coins it is the largest single charge in the transaction. Here is everything the six say about it on their own sites.
| COMPANY | WHAT IT SAYS ABOUT PRICE | PUBLISHED SPREAD | WHAT TO ASK FOR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birch Gold Group | Real-time wholesaler sourcing and a detailed, locked-in quote before you confirm. | NONE | The premium over spot per product, shown on the quote. |
| American Hartford Gold | Free silver on qualifying purchases, terms unpublished. | NONE | The qualifying products, and the ounce count without the promotion. |
| Noble Gold Investments | Flat account fees printed; metal priced on the call. | NONE | Bar against coin pricing for the same dollars. |
| Augusta Precious Metals | Could not be re-checked in October 2026. | NONE | The full price sheet for the products quoted, in writing. |
| Goldco | Highest buyback guarantee; free silver on premium coins only. | NONE | Today's buyback price on the exact coins being sold. |
| American Bullion | Bullion products named; pricing on request. | NONE | Premium over spot on PAMP or Johnson Matthey bars against Eagles. |
Ask for the order priced twice, in the recommended coins and in 10 oz or 100 oz bars, and compare ounces. Then ask for the same-day buyback price on each: the gap is your round-trip cost. The mechanics are on our pages about dealer markups and buyback programs.
Because silver is cheap by weight, a silver IRA holds far more ounces than a gold one of the same value, and custodians' published terms show where that bites. STRATA Trust's metals page says Delaware Depository offers segregated storage except for silver, and GoldStar Trust's page says Delaware segregates silver only in 1,000 oz bars. In practice most silver IRAs sit in commingled storage, which means you are owed the same products and quantity rather than the identical bars.
Price follows value at many vaults rather than weight. Delaware Depository's rates, as printed on custodian storage election forms, are $0.80 per $1,000 a year commingled and $1.60 segregated, with $95 and $190 minimums, so a silver holding costs the same per dollar as gold there. Our Delaware Depository guide and the comparison of segregated and commingled storage cover the detail.

Three of the ten companies we track advertise free or bonus silver in October 2026. Goldco's is the most specific: up to 5% back on $50,000 to $99,999 and 10% from $100,000, in Goldco premium coins only, not combinable with other offers. American Hartford Gold's homepage advertises up to $15,000 in free silver on qualifying purchases with no published conditions. Lear Capital advertises up to $15,000 in bonus coins and ties its fee waivers to limited mintage coins. In every case the qualifying products are the ones with the widest premiums, which is how the promotion is paid for. That does not make the offer dishonest. It makes the comparison mandatory: the same dollars in plain bars, the same day, and a count of total ounces. If you are weighing silver against gold for the account at all, our gold versus silver IRA comparison sets out the trade-offs, and readers who want platinum or palladium alongside silver should start with our best precious metals IRA companies ranking instead.
On silver-specific criteria, Birch Gold Group: it lists the widest range of IRA-eligible silver including bars and a Valcambi CombiBar, publishes its representative fees ($50 setup, $30 wire, $100 storage and insurance, $125 a year management), opens at $5,000 according to its own FAQ, and names five depositories. American Hartford Gold is second for its bar range and $10,000 door, and Noble Gold Investments third for a fully published flat fee schedule. Verified Oct 2026 on each company's site; confirm current terms.
The IRS sets no minimum. Each dealer sets its own: $5,000 at Birch Gold Group, $10,000 at American Hartford Gold, $10,000 recommended at American Bullion, $20,000 at Noble Gold Investments, $25,000 for an IRA at Goldco and $50,000 at Augusta Precious Metals, per their own sites. New contributions are capped at $7,500 for 2026, or $8,600 from age 50, so most silver IRAs are funded by transfer or rollover.
None of the ten companies we track publishes a percentage spread over spot for silver. Birch Gold Group says it quotes a locked-in price from wholesaler sourcing before you confirm, Orion Metal Exchange promises to beat any competitor's advertised price, and Goldco advertises a highest buyback guarantee, but none prints a number. Ask for the premium over spot on each product, and the same-day buyback price, in writing before funding.
Yes, if they are .999 fine or better and held by the custodian's depository. Birch Gold Group, American Hartford Gold, American Bullion and Noble Gold Investments all list silver bars for IRAs on their own sites, from 1 oz up to 100 oz. Bars usually carry a thinner premium than coins, but check segregated storage: STRATA says Delaware Depository does not offer segregated storage for silver, and GoldStar says Delaware segregates silver only in 1,000 oz bars.
Treat it as a discount you must verify, not a gift. Goldco's offer of up to 5 percent free silver on $50,000 to $99,999 and 10 percent from $100,000 applies only to its premium coins, which carry wider spreads than plain bullion, and cannot be combined with other offers. American Hartford Gold advertises up to $15,000 in free silver without published terms. Price the same dollars in plain bullion bars and compare total ounces received.
