The lowest fees gold IRA companies of 2026, costed on what each one prints.

Which gold IRA dealer has the lowest fees is a question with a real answer, and it is smaller than the industry lets on: two companies in a field of ten put an annual number in public at all. This page ranks the lowest fees gold IRA companies on figures verified in June 2026, prices a first year and a full decade at three funding levels, treats the entry minimum as the gate it really is, and finishes by arguing that the schedule everybody compares is not the cost that decides the outcome.

// THE VERDICT IN ONE NUMBER

Roughly $180 a year, and it belongs to American Hartford Gold

It is the smallest annual figure anybody here has committed to print, it does not scale with your balance, and it sits behind one of the two lowest gates in the field. Four qualifications follow.

  • Cheapest standing cost: American Hartford Gold at roughly $180 all-in yearly, steady across balances under $100,000, with nothing charged when you sell back out.
  • Cheapest schedule you can audit: Birch Gold Group, the only firm printing every line ($50 to open, $30 per wire, $110 vaulting and insurance, $125 administration), with year one erased on a qualifying rollover of $50,000 or more.
  • Possibly cheapest, provably unpriceable: Augusta Precious Metals covers custodian and storage for as long as ten years on qualifying accounts, gates the door at roughly $50,000, and never prints the tiers.
  • Modeled, never quoted: Goldco and Noble Gold issue no schedule at all. Every dollar we attach to them below is a band from our own category research, labeled as such.

One warning before the tables: everything ranked here is administration, and administration is the small money. The largest sum leaving your account is the markup buried in the coin price, which nobody prints and the fee calculator exists to model. Fees verified Jun 2026, confirm current pricing.

Ordered by what a company will print, not by what it will say on a call

Ranking this category on price hits an obstacle immediately: most of the field declines to state a price. Eight of our ten providers answer a costing question with a phone appointment, which leaves two options. Borrow figures from somewhere unverifiable, or rank on disclosure and mark the blanks. Three rules follow from the second.

One: a printed figure outranks a plausible one. A company stating an annual amount where a prospect can read it has accepted accountability for it. Triangulation from third-party blogs does not convert a withheld number into a stated one.

Two: an unpublished waiver is worth zero until it reaches your inbox. Waived years, waived setup and no fees for life get advertised on qualifying accounts without anyone stating what qualifies. Generous or not, they cannot be costed in advance.

Three: the gate is scored before the price. A cheap account you cannot open is unavailable rather than cheap. Dealer minimums span roughly $5,000 to roughly $50,000 across our field and eliminate more readers than pricing does, as our note on gold IRA minimum investment explains.

Everything below comes from our five provider fee pages, verified in June 2026. Where a company publishes nothing we print NOT PUBLISHED instead of a placeholder, and any band we built is labeled modeled.

So which gold IRA dealer has the lowest fees, company by company

American Hartford Gold takes it on arithmetic. Roughly $180 covers administration, vaulting and insurance together, about $75 of it identified as management while your balance stays under $100,000. Two details harden the win. No exit charge means the number does not spike when you have least room to negotiate, and a roughly $10,000 door makes the cheapest option one of the most reachable. Past $100,000 the management component stops being stated, so a large funding needs re-quoting.

Birch Gold Group wins the argument it is actually having. Its recurring bill of $235, or nearer $265 in a year a wire moves, sits above the leader. It is still the only firm here you can price at midnight without speaking to a salesperson, because all four components sit in public. Clear a qualifying rollover of $50,000 or more and the opening year disappears. Below that the waiver buys nothing, and the door opens five times lower than the discount does.

Augusta Precious Metals is the dearest and cheapest option at once. At list, our research records a setup charge near $50 and two annual lines near $100 each, roughly $200 recurring, which would place it second here. Coverage of both lines for up to ten years could instead shrink a decade to almost nothing. The word up carries weight, the tiers are unpublished, and a roughly $50,000 gate removes the offer from most of the audience reading a page about low fees.

Goldco names the custodian and withholds the cost. Equity Trust and STRATA Trust both appear in company material, which is worth money, because a trust company publishes its own schedule and you can read the document that will bill you for decades. The dealer side stops at structure: one flat yearly charge for administration and storage, described as a low-hundreds amount and never itemised. Our modeled $150 to $300 band belongs to us rather than to Goldco. The incentive arrives as silver on qualifying orders, which is metal in the vault, not a smaller invoice.

Noble Gold prices the right way and shows none of it. Flat annual dollars is the structure a long holder wants, because the bill ignores appreciation. No schedule reaches the public, no waiver is advertised and the custodian is unnamed, so our modeled first year of $245 to $395 and ongoing $150 to $300 are the only honest figures available. What it does offer is the widest vault choice in our field, including International Depository Services in Texas.

Outside the five, three positions matter. American Bullion records a $0 opening year on storage and the custodian line with no size condition published, the only unconditional first-year offer we could verify. Orion Metal Exchange sets the field's lowest gate at roughly $5,000, and Patriot Gold Group markets no fees for life on qualifying accounts. All three withhold the terms, so none is priceable before contact.

Flat pricing produces a table that looks broken: the dollars barely move across three very different balances. That is the point. A fixed schedule ignores what it is minding, so the only thing changing across the columns is the share of your capital consumed.

Source and method: American Hartford Gold and Birch Gold Group totals are the projections published on our American Hartford Gold fee page and Birch fee page, built from verified line items and held constant across the period, which no provider guarantees. Augusta list totals come from our Augusta fee page. Goldco and Noble Gold rows are modeled from our category research on our Goldco and Noble Gold fee pages, not quotes from either firm. All figures exclude the one-time markup over spot, which is unpublished across the category and normally larger than any row here. Verified Jun 2026, confirm current pricing.

One reading matters more than the rest. At $100,000 every row lands near or under two percent of capital across ten full years, which is where arguing about administration stops paying for the attention it takes.

// THE FILTER BEFORE THE PRICE

The gate disqualifies you long before the fee does

Every figure above is irrelevant until your funding amount clears the dealer's threshold. These floors are commercial decisions rather than tax rules, they vary by a factor of ten across our field, and they are why a low-fee answer changes with the size of the account asking.

A cheap schedule and an expensive coin is the most common way to lose this game

Here is the uncomfortable part of a page built to rank annual costs. Win the comparison you just read and you have secured a few hundred dollars across ten years. Lose the conversation about which products enter the account and you forfeit several times that in an afternoon.

The mechanism is not a scandal. Bullion is never sold to a retail buyer at the spot price on the ticker. You pay spot plus a margin, the dealer keeps the difference, and because it is embedded in a price rather than billed as a line, it appears on no schedule in this industry, including the good one Birch publishes. None of the five states a markup, and we will not invent one.

What we can state is the category shape, from our own gold IRA fees research: ordinary bullion such as American Gold Eagles, Maple Leafs and recognised bars commonly carries low to high single digits over spot, while proof, fractional and collectible pieces frequently carry twenty to forty percent or more and get repurchased on metal content alone.

Run the two against each other. A decade of the cheapest verified schedule here is about $1,800. Five points of markup on one $50,000 order is $2,500, settled on day one. Thirty points on that order is $15,000, more than eight decades of American Hartford Gold's annual charge. No ranking rescues a buyer who accepts that trade.

The two sentences that price the part nobody prints

Ask by email before money moves, about the exact items proposed rather than the catalogue generally, because a house average hides the small pieces where the widest margins live. First: state the price of each item as a percentage above spot at the moment of quoting. Second: state what you would pay today to buy those same items back. The distance between the answers is your round-trip cost.

Put both into our gold IRA fee calculator alongside the annual figure and your holding period. For most balances the markup line dominates and yearly cost stops being decisive. If you are funding by transfer, our rollover guide covers getting the cash in place first, since a quote given before settlement is indicative and nothing more.

// COST QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What people ask before they pick on price

Which gold IRA dealer has the lowest fees?

On the schedules we verified in June 2026, American Hartford Gold. Its published all-in annual figure is roughly $180, it holds flat inside the sub-$100,000 band, and nothing is charged when you sell metal back out. The nearest fully published rival is Birch Gold Group at $235 recurring, nearer $265 in a year that carries a wire. Augusta Precious Metals can finish cheaper than either over a decade, since it covers custodian and storage for up to ten years on qualifying accounts, but it gates entry at roughly $50,000 and withholds the tiers that decide how long coverage runs. Goldco and Noble Gold publish no schedule at all. Fees verified Jun 2026, confirm current pricing.

Does the cheapest provider change depending on how much I fund?

The cheapest dollar figure does not move, because these schedules are flat. What moves is who will take your money and which discounts switch on. Below roughly $50,000 Augusta will not open an account and Birch bills a full first year, because its waiver needs a qualifying rollover at that same figure. Above it both become available and Birch's opening year drops to nothing. American Hartford Gold behaves identically at every balance under $100,000, which is why it wins the small ones.

Which gold IRA companies publish a fee schedule you can read before you call?

One prints the whole thing and one prints a total. Birch Gold Group publishes four line items: $50 to establish the account, $30 per wire, $110 for storage and insurance, and $125 for administration. American Hartford Gold publishes a bundled all-in figure of roughly $180 and identifies about $75 of it as management on accounts under $100,000. Everyone else in our field of ten quotes on a call. An unpublished schedule is not evidence of an expensive one, it means you arrive without a reference point.

Do first-year waivers actually make a company cheaper over ten years?

Only by about one year of fees, which is less than most buyers assume. Birch's waiver on a qualifying rollover of $50,000 or more removes a $315 opening year and leaves roughly $2,115 across a decade, against $2,430 without it. That is a few hundred dollars, not a structural discount. Augusta is the exception, because covering the custodian and storage lines for up to ten years is the only offer here that touches the whole horizon, and also the one whose qualifying tiers nobody prints.

Are gold ira storage fees separate from the annual custodian fee?

They are two bills from two different companies, and whether you see them separately depends on who is quoting. Birch splits them, at $110 for vaulting and insurance and $125 for administration. American Hartford Gold merges them, leaving close to $105 doing the storage work once its roughly $75 management component is removed. Augusta is recorded in our research near $100 for each line. Ask for the storage number priced twice, once segregated and once commingled, because segregated always costs more and the election is often pre-filled before you see it.

Are there gold ira rollover fees on top of the annual schedule?

Not as a named charge from any of the five providers costed here, but the move touches two lines that carry money. The first is the outbound wire that funds the account, published by Birch at $30 and unpublished by the other four, where the category commonly runs $25 to $40. The second is the one-time setup charge, published by Birch at $50, recorded near $50 for Augusta, and not printed by the rest, where the category runs $50 to $80. Ask which entity levies each, because both are usually billed by the custodian rather than the dealer.
