Gold IRA celebrity endorsements: who pays whom, and what the money actually buys.

A famous voice telling you to buy gold is a media placement with an invoice attached. We traced every pairing we could stand behind to a citable source, in almost every case the dealer's own website, and recorded the deal type, the earliest year we could confirm, and where to read the claim yourself. What follows is the map, plus a blunt account of what a purchased endorsement conceals.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Every pairing on this page is a paid commercial arrangement, not a personal recommendation that happened to surface in public. Renting a famous voice is entirely legal, standard across retail finance, and disclosed on the promoting pages either in fine print or, more often, not at all. What an endorsement proves is that a dealer has an advertising budget large enough to buy national credibility, which is a fact about marketing spend rather than about pricing, custody or how the firm behaves on the day you want to sell.

Use the famous name to notice a company. Then judge that company on the four things it cannot outsource to a spokesperson: the minimum to open, the annual schedule in writing, the markup over spot, and its regulatory and complaint record. Our provider rankings and scoring method weight none of the roster below.

// THE PAIRINGS, VERIFIED

Sixteen relationships we could stand behind

Inclusion required a source we could cite today: usually a page on the dealer's own website naming the individual, otherwise a dated company announcement. Pairings asserted only by other affiliate sites were dropped, however widely repeated. Where a source gives no start date we print NOT PUBLISHED rather than guessing.

Sources are the endorsing company's own published pages and dated company announcements, all checked August 2026. External links open in a new tab and are not affiliate links. Descriptions of each arrangement paraphrase the cited page; where a page does not state when a relationship began, we record that absence. Chad Prather is also listed on Birch Gold Group's endorsements page and is omitted from the table only for length.

How a bullion dealer actually rents a famous voice

Three formats account for nearly everything in the table, and they are bought for different reasons.

The host read

Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Ben Shapiro, Glenn Beck, and Clay Travis with Buck Sexton all deliver dealer copy inside their own programmes. This format carries the most weight per dollar, because the pitch arrives in the same voice, cadence and political register as the forty minutes of commentary before it, and a listener who has spent that time nodding along does not switch into a sceptical frame for the ninety seconds where gold comes up. Sponsorship here is sold as a season or a multi-year block rather than by the spot, which is why one dealer tends to own a show outright and rivals are locked out for the duration.

The licensed face

Chuck Norris, Dennis Quaid, Tom Selleck and Joe Montana appear in filmed campaigns and on dedicated landing pages built on the dealer's own domain. The dealer is buying name, likeness and a short scripted quote it can repeat indefinitely across television, paid social and its own site. Goldco calls its Selleck arrangement exclusive; Augusta went further and invented an internal job title for Montana. Both moves say the same thing: the category is crowded enough that dealers pay partly to stop a rival signing the same person.

The bylined column

Ron Paul writes signed pieces that live on Birch Gold Group's website. This is the subtlest of the three: the output reads as commentary on monetary policy, and the commercial frame is supplied only by the domain it sits on. It is also the cheapest to scale, since one contributor produces material that ranks in search and gets shared by readers who would ignore a banner.

What none of them publishes is the number. Not one dealer and not one endorser in our table discloses the size or the term of the arrangement, and we are not going to estimate figures we cannot source. What we can point out is where the money comes from. Gold IRA dealers do not fund national radio out of the annual custodian and storage lines on your statement, which run in the low hundreds of dollars. They fund it out of the spread between the spot price of the metal and the price you are charged for the coin, a cost that appears on no schedule and is quoted to you only if you ask. The marketing budget and the number you never see on an invoice are the same budget.

The federal rule that governs this, and the gap between rule and practice

Endorsement advertising in the United States is governed by the Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, codified at 16 CFR Part 255 and substantially revised in 2023. Two principles from the Guides matter to anyone reading the table above. First, an endorsement must reflect the endorser's genuine opinion and cannot convey a claim the advertiser itself would not be permitted to make. Second, a material connection between endorser and advertiser, meaning a payment or business relationship the audience would not reasonably expect, must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. The FTC's plain-language companion, The FTC's Endorsement Guides: What People Are Asking, works through how that applies in practice.

A filmed commercial announces itself by format. The harder case is the host read, where paid copy is delivered by the same person, in the same voice, inside the hour of programming the audience tuned in for. Whether any given placement requires an explicit disclosure is a fact-specific judgement we are not positioned to make, and nothing here alleges that any company or individual has violated anything.

What we can report is what we read. We opened every endorser page linked in our table in August 2026. Not one carried a statement that the endorser receives compensation. They describe trust, personal conviction and long acquaintance with precious metals, and leave the commercial arrangement entirely to inference. Taken at face value, those pages would have you believe that a group of unusually consistent public figures independently reached the same conclusion about the same handful of dealers.

What an endorsement genuinely tells you

  • Budget scale. National radio and filmed television campaigns are expensive. A firm running them is not a two-person operation, and it expects to recover the spend from customer margin.
  • Who the firm thinks you are. The roster skews overwhelmingly to conservative talk media and to audiences aged fifty and over. That is not an accident; it is precisely the group holding rollover-sized balances in old employer plans.
  • Durability. A pairing documented across years, as with Ben Shapiro and Birch Gold Group since August 2016, has been renewed repeatedly. Renewal is weak evidence of a functioning business, which is more than nothing.

What it tells you nothing about

  • The minimum to open, which ranges across the field from roughly $10,000 to roughly $50,000.
  • The annual schedule, and whether the dealer will hand it over before a sales call.
  • The markup over spot on the coins you are steered toward, the largest cost in most accounts.
  • Which custodian administers the account and bills you long after any promotion expires.
  • Buyback terms and complaint volume. See the warning signs worth knowing.

Five endorsed companies, priced

The same firms, stripped of the roster and reduced to figures we verified in June 2026. Read it alongside the table above and the gap between marketing reach and commercial terms is obvious: the dealer with the most decorated roster is not the cheapest, and the lowest annual cost belongs to a firm whose endorser is a retired cable news anchor rather than a Hall of Fame quarterback.

COMPANYMINIMUM TO OPENPUBLISHED ANNUAL COSTFIRST-YEAR POSITIONWHAT THE ENDORSEMENT DOES NOT COVER
American Hartford Gold ~$10,000 ~$180 a year all-in, including roughly $75 of management on accounts under $100,000 No waiver tied to rollover size published The markup over spot, which is not printed on any schedule.
Birch Gold Group ~$10,000 ~$265 a year flat: roughly $110 storage and insurance, roughly $125 account management First year waived on qualifying rollovers of $50,000 or more Whether your balance clears the waiver threshold, which decides whether year one is free or full price.
Lear Capital ~$10,000 ~$200 a year after the first year ~$280 in the first year The New York enforcement history set out below.
Goldco ~$25,000 Flat annual fees, full schedule NOT PUBLISHED Promotional metals offered on qualifying purchases That the largest celebrity roster in the field sits on the least complete published pricing of these five.
Augusta Precious Metals ~$50,000 ~$200 a year: roughly $100 custodian, roughly $100 storage and insurance Both annual lines covered up to ten years on qualifying accounts, tiers not published That the minimum excludes a large share of the audience the ambassador reaches.

Endorsement inventory is for sale regardless of a firm's regulatory file

The most useful thing on this page is a date sequence involving one company in our table, and we present it strictly as documented fact rather than as an accusation.

On 17 June 2021 the New York Attorney General filed suit against Lear Capital and its founder, alleging that the firm charged undisclosed commissions of up to 33 percent and cost nearly 1,000 New Yorkers roughly $10 million. Those were allegations in a petition, not findings by any court. On 3 January 2022 the Attorney General announced a resolution: a consent order requiring a $6 million payment for distribution to affected New York customers, clear and conspicuous fee disclosure to New York residents, and a 24-hour cancellation window on retirement and higher-fee transactions. The release records no admission of wrongdoing, and a civil settlement is not a finding of liability.

In February 2024, roughly two years after that resolution, Lear Capital announced Glenn Beck as an endorser, noting in its own release that Beck had originally been introduced to the firm by the late Rush Limbaugh. Nothing about that sequence is unlawful. That is the point. A completed state enforcement matter did not prevent the company from acquiring a nationally recognised endorser, because endorsement inventory is a commercial product sold to whoever will pay for it, and no part of the transaction requires a diligence review of the buyer's history.

Apply that inference to every row in our table. A famous name is downstream of a purchase order, not of an audit. For history rather than campaign, read our Lear Capital review, our account of gold IRA companies that shut down or were forced to stop, and gold IRA scams and red flags.

The four questions that survive contact with a spokesperson

  • What is the price as a percentage over spot, and what would you buy the same coin back for today? That gap is your real round-trip cost and it dwarfs every annual fee on this page.
  • Send me the full annual schedule by email before we talk again. A firm that publishes it has answered. A firm that will not put it in writing has answered too.
  • Which custodian administers the account, and may I see its own schedule? The custodian bills you for the life of the account; the promotion usually covers one year.
  • What is your regulatory and complaint history? Then check the Better Business Bureau profile and your state securities regulator yourself instead of accepting a summary.

The questions people search before they call anyone

What gold company does Sean Hannity advertise?

Goldco. The company hosts a page on its own domain headed with Hannity's name, on which he says Goldco is the only precious metals company he recommends to his audience, friends and family, and it published a formal endorsement announcement in March 2022. The relationship also runs through advertising carried inside his radio and television programmes. Neither side publishes the fee or the length of the deal. Because the placement was bought, treat it as a prompt to look at Goldco rather than a verdict on Goldco: the minimum to open is roughly $25,000 and the firm does not publish a full annual schedule, which our Goldco review covers in detail. Fees verified Jun 2026, confirm current pricing.

Which gold IRA company does Ben Shapiro endorse?

Birch Gold Group. Birch runs a page titled Ben Shapiro Partners with Birch Gold Group which states the two have worked together since August 2016, making it the longest continuously documented pairing we could verify anywhere in this industry. Birch's wider endorsement page also names Ron Paul, Dan Bongino, Megyn Kelly, Stephen K. Bannon, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton, and Chad Prather. None of those listings discloses compensation. The stronger argument for shortlisting Birch is unrelated to the roster: it publishes an itemised annual fee schedule of roughly $265, which most of its competitors do not.

Is Joe Montana genuinely a customer of Augusta Precious Metals, or a paid ambassador?

Augusta's own announcements describe him as both. A February 2020 release announces a partnership and says his financial advisers identified the firm after he asked them to search the market. A July 2020 release records that Augusta's chief executive awarded him a corporate title, Augusta Gold IRA Ambassador. Somebody can be a paying customer and a compensated ambassador simultaneously, and neither fact validates the other. The practical caveat is arithmetic: Augusta's minimum to open is roughly $50,000, so the offer the ambassador fronts is unavailable to a saver moving a $40,000 balance. Fees verified Jun 2026, confirm current pricing.

Does a celebrity endorsement mean a gold IRA company is trustworthy?

No. It means the firm can afford national media and has chosen to rent attention rather than accumulate it. The counter-example sits in our own table. Lear Capital announced Glenn Beck as an endorser in February 2024, roughly two years after resolving a New York Attorney General action with a consent order requiring a $6 million payment, which the Attorney General's January 2022 release describes without recording an admission of wrongdoing. Endorsement inventory is for sale to any firm that can pay for it, before or after a regulatory file exists. Judge the minimum, the annual schedule, the markup over spot and the published complaint record instead.

Are these endorsers paid, and does anyone have to disclose it?

Assume payment in every case. The Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, at 16 CFR Part 255, require that an endorsement reflect the endorser's honest opinion and that a material connection the audience would not reasonably expect be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. Whether any particular placement requires a disclosure is a fact-specific question, and nothing on this page alleges a violation by any company or any individual. What we can report is what we read: not one of the endorser pages cited in our table carried a statement that the endorser receives compensation.

SOURCES & METHOD

Every pairing above was checked in August 2026 against a source we could cite. Where the endorsing company's own website names the individual, that page is the source. Where it does not, a dated company announcement was used. Claims we found only on other affiliate or review sites were excluded. Legal matters are cited to the office that brought them.

Naming a public figure here reports a documented commercial relationship and carries no suggestion of wrongdoing by that person or by any company. Descriptions of legal matters distinguish allegations from resolutions and note where a settlement records no admission.
